THE Zambia Tennis Association (ZTA) will hold trials to pick junior national team to represent the country at the 2016 International Tennis Federation (ITF) African Junior Circuit next month.
This will be the first time in more than six years that Zambia will be taking part in the continental junior competition after been exiled for non-payment of affiliation fee to the African tennis authority (CAT).
ZTA is expected to send eight juniors to this tournament in the under-12 and under-14 games for both boys and girls in the single and doubles categories.
The first leg of the circuit will be held in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe from May 2-5 and then followed by two legs to be held in Gaborone, Botswana from May 7 to 10 and from May 11 to 13.
Association vice-president (south) Crispin Moyo said in an interview yesterday that the association finally received a letter of invitation from CAT for Zambia to take part in the junior circuit which he said was important in exposing junior players.
And CAT, who will pay for accommodation of the eight players in the countries where the circuit will be held, has advised Zambia and associations taking apart, to nominate coaches also as they send names of participating players.
Moyo said the ZTA will this weekend hold a meeting to decide on the logistics for the circuit which include raising money for air tickets.
