A DELEGATION from China  is expected  in Kitwe on the  Copperbelt  this  month  to  explore  possibilities of  starting an irrigation project at  Mufuchani  along  the Kafue River.
Kwacha Member of  Parliament (MP)  Boniface Mutale  is excited  with  news  of  the  delegation  and  was confident  that this  would bring about  job opportunities  especially for the  youths.
Speaking in an interview  in Kitwe  yesterday,  Mr  Mutale  said  the project, once  implemented,  would  greatly benefit the local  people.
He said he was yet to be provided with a full programme from the District Commissioner’s office.
“I am  excited  with the  news  of a delegation from China  which  will soon be  visiting  us  specifically  to  look  at  possibilities of setting up an  irrigation project  at  Mufuchani, ” he said.
Mr Mutale reaffirmed the Government’s commitment in wooing investment and business opportunities from both local and foreign investors.
He said the Patriotic Front (PF) Government was interested in adding value to   the community.
In another case, Mr Mutale  said he was happy with  the construction of the 160-metre-long Mufuchani Bridge across the Kafue River at a cost K62.7 million. The project was funded by the World Bank.
