Power 1 Zesco 2
ZESCO United began their title defence on a convincing note with this impressive away win in Kitwe with a clinical display that dispatched Power Dynamos to their second successive defeat, writes KALUMIANA KALUMIANA.
After a spark-less first half, Idris Mbombo put life into the game when he put Zesco ahead in the 47th minute when he turned in a Cletus Chama free kick.
Another off-season buy, Jesse Were made it 2-0 in the 59th minute when he guided in another set-piece from Chama to see Zesco avenge their 2016 Charity Shield semi-final loss to Power in February.

Power sneaked in a consolation goal in stoppage time through Martin Phiri. This was Power’s second in a row as the lost by the same margin a week ago away to Nchanga Rangers.
Tigers 1 Dynamos 0
Promoted Lusaka Tigers jumped into second position on the MTN-FAZ league table after this hard fought win to Lusaka Dynamos in this Week-Three fixtures that kept them three points off Nkana, reports Yvonne Sakala from Independence Stadium.
Lusaka Tigers were in command from the first whistle when they found the back of net through Musatwe Simutowe who scored with a brilliant header from a Malela Sapu cross in the 37th minutes to send the home fans into a frenzy.
Licking wounds from last week’s 2-0 defeat at the hands of Zanaco, this Chanda Mwaba coached side knew they had to make amends and cover ground, they got their wish with a display that was rewarded with their standing being the best they have had in almost two decades, Dynamos created chances with the best coming in the 66th minutes when Webster Muzaza fluffed a header from point blank range and the win taking Lusaka Tigers to six points, three off Nkana while Dynamos are on four points.
Arrows 1 Napsa 1
Red Arrows and Napsa Stars battled to a 1-1 draw in this Week-Three match that leaves both teams still searching for a first win of the season, Gwen Chipasula reports from Nkoloma Stadium.
Mathew Macha put Napsa in the driving seat six minutes before end of first half with a good assist from Collins Sikombe but former international Shadreck Malambo rescued a point for the Zambia Air force sponsored Red Arrows with a thunderbolt in the 86th minute.
With this draw, Arrows now have two points from as many games while Napsa picked up only their first point of the season.
Nkwazi 1 Nakambala 1
And from Edwin Imboela Stadium, struggling Nakambala Leopards held Nkwazi to a 1-all draw in a drab game watched by a small crowd, Sandra Mwila reports.
Venacious Mapande put Nakambala in the lead at the stroke of half-time when he chested in a ball following a defensive mix-up from the home side to effectively punish a wasteful Nkwazi who saw Kalaba Chikwanda head high from close range.
But Nkwazi still equalised in the 55th minute through second half substitute, Justin Shonga when he headed in a Steward Chikandiwa corner kick.
As both sides searched for a winner, Nakambala assistant coach Humphrey Malikoni was given matching orders in the 62 minute for arguing with the fourth official.
