THE Government has said it will provide an enabling environment to make the mining industry thrive even as the country approaches the August 11, general elections.
Mines Deputy Minister Richard Musukwa said the mining industry remained a significant sector in the nation’s economic development.
Mr Musukwa said in an interview that the leadership of President Edgar Lungu will ensure stability and growth in mining and other industries.
“The mining industry still remains a critical sector in economic growth and as Government, we will provide a conducive environment for the sector to thrive,” he said.
The deputy minister was confident that copper prices on the international market would soon improve.
Mr Musukwa assured investors in the country of stability and safety of their investments ahead of the forthcoming elections.
He appealed to Zambians to continue supporting Mr Lungu for the country to continue enjoying stability.
