A-FORTY-SEVEN-YEAR-OLD man of Ndola’s Twapia Township has murdered his wife using a knife following a marital dispute.
Copperbelt Police chief Charity Katanga confirmed that Augustine Chisenga stabbed his wife to death following a marital dispute on Friday around 20:00 hours.
Ms Katanga who identified the deceased as Mercy Bwalya said she sustained deep cuts on her back and chest.
The body of the deceased is at the Ndola Central Hospital mortuary awaiting a postmortem.
“We have a report in which Margaret Bwalya of house number 05 old Twapia reported that her daughter Mercy Bwalya was been murdered by her husband. It is believed that the two quarreled before the incident. A knife is suspected to have been used,” she said.
Ms Katanga said the suspect has been arrested and charged with murder and would appear in court soon.
In another development, two people have died after the vehicle they were travelling in lost control and hit into a bus.
Ms Katanga said the accident happened yesterday along Ndola-Kabwe Road near Jacaranda Mall around 07:15 hours.
She said the driver of the Toyota Raum registration number ACH 7134, Nicholas Mwiya of Kanseshi Township, lost control and failed to keep to his lane and in the process hit into a Mazhandu bus registration number BAD 7084 which was coming from the opposite direction.
Ms Katanga said the driver of the Toyota Raum died on the spot, while the passenger identified as Moses Chibwe sustained grave injuries and was admitted to Ndola Central Hospital.
She said the vehicle further went and hit a pedestrian who died on the spot.
Ms Katanga said no passenger on the Mazhandu bus was injured and that only the driver’s front seat was damaged.
“We have a fatal accident involving a Toyota Raum and a bus. Two people have died while one is admitted to Ndola Central Hospital. The Toyota Raum was extensively damaged and the driver died on the spot,” she said.
