BODYBUILDING champion Sylvester Mwila will lead Zambia’s quest for silverware at the 2016 Arnold Classics Africa qualifier billed for East London, South Africa this weekend.
Mwila, who is the current Mr Zambia title holder, will be representing the country together with Clement Shamboko and Patrick Nyondo of Kitwe’s Ravens gymnasium.
The trio, who were scheduled to leave for South Africa yesterday, will join Africa’s top bodybuilders at the Hemmingways arena.
The Arnold Classics will set the tone for the All-Africa Championships slated for May 28 to 29 in Sandton, South Africa.
Zambia Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation (ZBBFF) vice-president Brown Ng’ambi said in an interview yesterday that he was confident the trio would put up a strong challenge.
“We would like to thank corporate partners that have come up to meet logistics for the athletes as individuals. We are confident that the three will not disappoint. We urge companies to come to our aid as we prepare for the forthcoming May competition,” he said.
The pre-judging takes place tomorrow ahead of the main event on Saturday.
Mwila was runner-up at the Boksberg Classic staged in Johannesburg last year.
