Government has met all the funeral expenses for the two people in Kitwe killed by lightning following a heavy downpour on Monday this week.
John Sokoni and Caristo Sinkala were struck together in Wusakile Township.
Mr Sokoni’s body was buried in Kitwe yesterday, while Mr Sinkala’s funeral and burial had been moved to Chililabombwe.
Kitwe District Commissioner Chanda Kabwe yesterday visited the funeral houses of the victims and promised to meet all the funeral expenses.
Mr Kabwe, who was accompanied by acting Mayor Samuel Mumba, visited the house of Mr Sokoni to render support to the bereaved family.
He also visited a survivor of the incident currently admitted to the intensive care unit at Kitwe Central Hospital.
Meanwhile, a three-year-old boy has died after a boundary fence collapsed on him and his brother.
The two boys went to a market when the fence fell on them.
Mr Kabwe, who visited the bereaved family in Wusakile Township, urged the family to remain strong, adding that the injured boy would be taken back to the hospital for further treatment.
