As a youth, I would like to add my voice to the call by President Edgar Lungu for us to apply for adoption to contest parliamentary, local government and other elective seats.
This is indeed good and we the youth should seize this opportunity.
I say so because from time immemorial, we are the ones who have been crying the loudest that we are not appointed to decision-making positions.
We are most of the time marginalised.
This is now our time to get to the steering wheel and drive to our destiny.
Youths should not just be used by politicians who want to win elections.
My only prayer and plea is that, political parties should come up with mechanisms or policies which would encourage the youths to contest for these positions.
At times youths apply but they are not adopted.
Time is now and we need to see a new generation of politicians as opposed to tired and recycled ones who in many cases want to serve their personal interests.
