Zanaco 3 City 1 (5-2 aggregate)
CAPTAIN Ziyo Tembo inspired Zanaco to victory after scoring a brace as the bankers came from a goal down to thrash Harare City and advance to the second round of the CAF 2016 Confederation Cup.
Zanaco will host the winner of the match involving Tunisian side Stade Gabesien and AS Kaloum from Guinea next month.
City took the lead in the eighth minute through Honey Chimutimunzevie whose shot from the inside saw keeper Racha Kola make a save when the ball had crossed the lines.
Salulani Phiri had a good chance to level matters in the 15th minute but ballooned his attempt inside the box while Charles Zulu’s shot was saved by goalkeeper Tafadzwa Dube in the 33rd minute.
With the visitors needing another goal to tie the encounter following their 2-1 loss in Harare a week ago, Zanaco came back in the game with Ziyo netting in a header in the 36th minute off a Fackson Kapumbu cross.
Kapumbu again provided a juicy cross for Ziyo to head in his second before Dave Daka put icing on the cake as Zanaco killed off any City surge to keep their hopes of reaching the group stage alive.
