KPF 3 Arrows 6
CHAMPIONS Red Arrows went top of the Zambia Rugby Union (ZRU) Division One national rugby league (NRL) log after an away win over Kitwe Playing Fields (KPF) at the weekend.
The result ended promoted KPF’s fairy tale start to the season that saw them flatten Green Eagles 30-0 at the same venue last week to enjoy league leadership for a week.
A Terry Kaushiku penalty plus a drop goal from Kampindu Nyangu handed Arrows the narrow victory to move them to eight points after two games played as Fine Chikumbe scored KPF’s consolation via a penalty as the Kitwe side earned a point to move to six points.
Buffaloes 8 Eagles 3
Buffaloes handed Green Eagles a straight second defeat to move to eight points but are second to Arrows on goal difference following a home win. Eagles remain without a point.
Diggers 10 Nkwazi 7
Back in Kitwe, ‘Men At Work’ Diggers bounced back from their opening day 3-0 away loss to Arrows in Lusaka to shock 2015 runners-up Nkwazi slender win.
Diggers beat 14-man Nkwazi thanks to a George Mwamba try that was converted by Brian Mbalwe while Eugene Zulu added a penalty. Nkwazi, who had Bonanza Kibonshi sent-off in the match, were on the score-sheet thanks to a Peter Lishika try that was converted by Laston Mukosa.
The game between Powerhouse Lusaka and visitors Chibuluma was postponed because the hosts had a bereavement.
