By JULIUS PHIRI –
THE Auditor General’s (AG) office has commended first Republican president Kenneth Kaunda for his contribution to the construction of Chipata Central Hospital.
Deputy director of audits in the AG’s office, Masiye Banda said Dr Kaunda had done well during his reign by ensuring that the hospital was constructed.
Mr Banda said this when he donated various items to the hospital to celebrate his 40th birthday in Chipata on Saturday.
He said that since its construction over four decades ago, the hospital had saved many lives.
Mr Banda recalled that he was among the first babies to have been born at the hospital after it was constructed by Dr Kaunda’s government.
