FOUR pupils and three teachers from Nanga Secondary School in Mazabuka have sustained injuries when the bus they were traveling in overturned over the weekend.
Southern Province Police chief Godwin Phiri said the accident happened near Magoye Bridge in Mazabuka when a Mitsubishi Canter registration number ALC 4966 which was moving from the North to the South driven by Jam Miyoba of Mwanachingwala while overtaking collided with a Coaster Bus registration number AMB 247.
Mr Phiri said both drivers and four passengers from the Canter sustained serious injuries and were rushed to Mazabuka Hospital.
He said two males and 17 females from the bus sustained minor injuries and had been rushed to Mazabuka hospital for treatment.
“Please note that some of the victims from the bus are three pupils and teachers from Nanga Secondary School,” he said.
He said the accident happened on Saturday and both vehicles had their front parts extensively damaged.
Meanwhile, Mr Phiri said an unknown female of Monze died when a Toyota Hiace Mini bus she was traveling in overturned after a tyre burst.
He said the unknown victim sustained fatal injuries and died on the spot and her body had been taken to Mazabuka Hospital mortuary.
The other passengers that included four female and six males sustained serious injuries and were undergoing treatment at Mazabuka Hospital.
