THE Government has challenged consulting entities to develop tools and methodology that will translate into developmental policies for the benefit of Zambia.
Secretary to the Cabinet Rowland Msiska said consulting entities should come on board and offer solutions to the much-talked about diversification programme.
Dr Msiska said the business environment was changing rapidly and almost all organisations needed help from consulting entities.
He was speaking at the official launch of the consultancy and training division by Zambia State Insurance Corporation (ZSIC) Holdings Limited in Lusaka yesterday.
“We have kept talking about diversification for a long time, could it be that training and consulting division could now help us to think through our institutional arrangements to move us towards diversification that everyone is admiring.
“Consulting entities are supposed to help us package this information in a way that we are able to translate it quickly into policies and move forward,” he said.
ZSIC Holdings limited managing director George Silutongwe said the whole country was talking about increased investments and development in several key areas.
Mr Silutongwe said a major component of sustaining these investments and developments was the availability of a cadre of effectively and continuously, well drilled managers and staff, who were proficient in transaction and transformation skills.
He said the launch of the ZSIC Holdings Limited management consultancy and training services division would contribute to local capacity in consultancy and training.
Mr Silutongwe said the company identified a general need for such services in the country and a gap in local capacity and capabilities that must be built.
He said some indication of the gap had been the influx of training and consultancy services being offered from all over the Southern and Eastern African regions.
Mr Silutongwe said the launch of the management consultancy and training services division would provide increased and diversified support to the subsidiaries of ZSIC Holdings in problem solving, and continuous skills development necessary for group-wide transformation.
