Luanshya set to win C/belt girls cricket indoor league

LUANSHYA moved a step closer to winning the Zambia Cricket Union (ZCU) Copperbelt Six-Aside Girls’ Indoor League title after beating Nchanga by four runs to jump to 18 points.

 

With two games left to the end of the season, second placed pair of Nkana and Mufulira, both on 15 points, can only hope for the leaders to slip up in the coming fixture in order to take the race to the wire.

 

In games played at Chiwempala Hall in Chingola, Luanshya beat Nchanga by four runs in a match that Nchanga won the toss and opted to field first. And in their innings, Luanshya posted 70 runs in their allotted 10 overs where Mwaka Kachingwe hit an unbeaten 30 runs.

 

Nchanga, batting second, was restricted to 66 runs for four wickets down in their allotted 10 overs with Exildah Chanda top scoring with 26 runs while Annie Talamana made 14 runs not out.

 

Nchanga bounced back in their next match beating Ndola-B by 20 runs in a game they batted first and made 66 runs for four wickets in their allotted 10 overs and saw Pauline Chanda hitting 28 runs.

 

Ndola B batting in reply got restricted to just 46 runs with Given Mwamba top scoring with 18 runs while Memory Mulenga made 12 runs.

 

Second placed Mufulira had a good weekend where defeated Ndola-B by 30 runs after winning the toss and elected to field first.

 

Mufulira, in their innings, made 62 runs all out in six overs with Mercy Ng’uni as the top scorer with 28 runs while Foster Kunda contributed 14 runs with Ndola in response managing just 32 runs all out in 5.1 overs.

 

And in a high scoring match, Nkana defeated Ndola A by 28 runs with the former making an impressive 122 runs in their allotted 10 overs with Elina Mwansa scoring 28 runs while Carol Muleta made 24 runs.

 

Ndola A, batting second, was all out for 94 runs with Agnes Shezongo as top scorer with 28 runs while Janet Kaoma contributed 26 runs.

 

Luanshya kept their 100 percent winning record by defeating Ndola A by two wickets where Ndola A batted first and made 76 runs all out and had Shezongo scoring 24 runs and then Edah Zulu adding 14 runs.

 

Luanshya batting second passed the score target in six overs with Jean Chabula hitting 30 runs.
