TASKFORCE on illegal land allocations chairperson Panji Kaunda has said his team will probe and help clean up all councils involved in corrupt practices.
Colonel Kaunda said in an interview yesterday that the task force was not only investigating councils on the Copperbelt, but the entire country.
He said people should not be excited with the pending dissolution of Parliament because the Government would continue to function before and after the elections.
“Government functions will continue before and after elections, so let the councils not become excited with the pending dissolution of Parliament,” he said.
He said after conducting thorough investigations, all the people involved in illegal land allocations would be prosecuted.
Col Kaunda said the law would not spare anyone, adding that some councillors on the Copperbelt had already been suspended in connection with illicit land allocations.
He said his team would soon move to Southern Province before shifting to Eastern Province and other parts of the country to investigate similar activities.
He appealed to people who had been issued with offer letters by local authorities not to sell their plots without getting authority from the ministry of Lands.
Col Kaunda said some successful applicants were landing themselves into trouble because of selling their plots without clearance from the ministry of lands.
He said anyone who intended to sell a plot should have title deeds in order to do so.
