PATRIOTIC Front Roan Member of Parliament (MP) Chishimba Kambwili has filed his application seeking to be re-adopted as area MP and urged others who are interested to do the same as Zambia is a democratic country.
Mr Kambwili said he was asked by the party to stand as MP in Chingola but he could not go there because the people of Roan Constituency still needed his services.
He said it was important that he applied in Roan, where he had initiated a number of developmental projects which were yet to be completed.
“I have seen how Roan residents appreciate my services, I will not go anywhere but wish to be adopted here so that I continue with what I have started. I have filed  my application and I am calling on other members that want to apply to do so as Zambia is a democratic country. I will tell the party that Roan residents still want me and I will have to pay allegiance because this is my home,” he said.
Mr Kambwili who is Information and Broadcasting Services minister, was escorted by hundreds of supporters. He said it would be unfair to leave  Roan in the midst of challenges of unemployment among others.
He said he would never run away from the challenges, but fight hard to ensure the challenges were addressed.
Mr Kambwili said it was up to the party to decide whether to adopt him or not.
He said if he would not be adopted, he would continue running his businesses.
Roan Constituency chairperson Nebert Matatiwo said when he received the application that the district office had received more than 50 petitions seeking Mr Kambwili not to stand in any other constituency, but Roan.
Mr Matatiwo said the residents went ahead and requested to witness Mr Kambwili filing his nomination.
In Ndola, PF members continued to apply to be adopted to stand on the ruling party ticket.
Prominent Ndola business executive Emmanuel Mulenga applied to be adopted for the Ndola Central Constituency seat.
Mr Mulenga who was accompanied by hundreds of supporters from PF, MMD and FDD, said it is the people of Ndola Central who wanted him.
“I feel the time has come for me to represent the people of Ndola Central. As you can see all the wards in Ndola Central are represented. Ward officials are all here to escort me to file. I am doing so because people have called upon me to represent them,” he said.
When asked what makes him feel he is the best candidate, Mr Mulenga said the people want a candidate that lives and suffers with them.
Among some of the applicants vying for adoption on the PF ticket was MMD National youth chairperson Bowman Lusambo for the Kabushi seat.
