FORMER Under-20 national team coach, Hector Chilombo has been appointed Red Arrows assistant coach.
Chilombo, who was until his appointment unattached, replaces Albert Kachinga who parted company with the Zambia Air Force team on mutual understanding last year.
Red Arrows public relations and media liaison officer Misheck Kalembwe said in an interview yesterday that Chilombo takes over as assistant coach with immediate effect.
“We decided to engage him because we have confidence that he will deliver.
“He is on a one-year renewable contract deal which will be based on how well he performs,” Kalembwe said.
He said the club had had no assistant coach since August and had no doubt that Chilombo, who he described as one of the best coaches in Zambia, would deliver positive results.
Chilombo, who was sacked by Napsa Stars in April 2014, has been offered a one-year renewable contract to assist head coach Mathews Phiri.
He had relative success with the Under-20 team which he qualified to the 2015 African Youth Championships in Senegal ,as well winning the Africa Union Sports Commission region five (Southern Africa) Under-20 games held in Zimbabwe.
