CHINGANGU JBy SANDRA MWILA –

THE Zambia Police says it has enough evidence to drag former national champion Joseph ‘No Pressure’ Chingangu to court.
Acting spokesperson Esther Katongo said in an interview that Chingangu was still detained at Kabwata Police Station since his arrest on Saturday and would be appearing in court soon.
Katongo added that the whereabouts of the motor vehicle had not yet been established and that the police were still on a search, but that there was overwhelming evidence against Chingangu.
Chingangu, a former Africa Boxing Union champion, was nabbed on Saturday for theft of a Probox Station Wagon registration number ALH7159 belonging to Xinchang Wang Construction Company.
Katongo said the vehicle was parked at a Chinese residence in Kabwata Estates around 19:00 hours and was discovered stolen around 03:30 hours on Saturday.
She said the matter was reported to the police by the owner, who later saw the vehicle with Chingangu at Kamwala Filling Station.
Katongo said Chingangu was approached by the owner, but he said nothing and drove away into Chibolya Township.
“We have charged Chingangu with theft of a motor vehicle, he is still in police custody and we have enough evidence to drag him to court whether the motor vehicle is found or not,” she said.
Chingangu remains one of Zambia’s most accomplished boxers and arguably only bettered by Lottie Mwale in the men’s category.
