THE National House of Prayer (NHP) is organising a national prayer crusade which will run until voting day on August 11 this year to engage political parties to uphold peace and end violence.
NHP board member Pukuta Mwanza said the crusade was one way of bringing political players together to pray and find a lasting solution to political violence as the country heads to the polls.
Reverend Mwanza said in an interview yesterday that the Church was concerned with political violence, hence the move to organise national prayers to enable politicians to put an end to violence.
“We want to call all political parties together so that we can see how we can put an end to violence,” Rev Mwanza said.
He said NHP would also call political party leaders to a roundtable discussion to find a lasting solution to the continued cases of violence in the country.
Rev Mwanza said that NHP would put political parties together to embrace a favourable atmosphere of campaigns as the country heads to the polls.
He said the national prayer event would focus more on nurturing peace and unity during and after the forthcoming elections.
