A SEVEN-YEAR-OLD girl in Ndola has died after being viciously attacked by two Boerboel dogs at her parent’s residence, police have confirmed. Twiggy Chisenga, a Grade one pupil of Pamodzi Overspill area, was attacked by the pets around 09:00 hours. The Boerboel, also known as the South African mastiff, is a large type of breed which is bred for the purpose of guarding homesteads. A family member, talking on condition of anonymity, said Twiggy was in the habit of playing with the dogs, but that shockingly, they attacked her in one of the bedrooms where she ran into. She was found in a pool of blood and police had since launched investigations. She had deep cuts around her neck and around her legs Copperbelt police chief, Charity Katanga also confirmed the ordeal in a separate interview. Ms Katanga said Kaunda Kolala, 18, was the only one present at the time the girl was mauled and that he was supposed to have chained the dogs. “We are told that the girl usually plays with the dogs, but it happened that yesterday as she was playing with them, they chased her and she went into the bedroom where they attacked and killed her,” Ms Katanga said. Ms Katanga said Twiggy’s body was in Arthur Davison Children’s Hospital mortuary. The family member found at the house spoke with deep shock amid sobs. “We were not around when the girl was attacked. The dogs are usually locked and whenever they are outside, she likes playing with them. “We suspect she was playing and chasing them around. We just found her lying in a pool of blood with cuts on her neck and legs,” the family member said.
