By SHAMAOMA MUSONDA –
NDOLA golfer Dayne Moore shot a poor three-over-par 75 and missed the qualifying cut into the Dimension Data Pro-Am tournament that tees off today at the Montagu Golf Course in Fancourt, South Africa.
Moore’s poor score means that the Dimension Data tournament will only have one Zambian in Madalitso Muthiya who was entered straight into the tournament without needing to go through the qualifiers.
In the qualifiers that had 38 entries, just 15 were needed to make today’s main draw and with the cut set at par-72, Moore missed the cut by three shots.
He also finished a whooping seven shots off the top spot which was taken by Kevin Rundle who carded four-under-par 68.
In this one round tournament, Moore sunk two birdies but that was obliterated by four bogeys and a double bogey to see the lanky player now looking to the Eye of Africa PGA Championship qualifier on January 23.
Moore was always in trouble after bogeys on the fourth and seventh holes and even after a birdie on the ninth, he needed something extraordinary on the back nine to make the draw.
He started the back nine with a bogey on the 10th and then a double bogey on the 12th which left him four-over-par but he still managed to put in a fight with two birdies on the 16th and 18th though they were sandwiched by a bogey on the 17th.
In today’s draw, Muthiya will tee-off at 11:15 hours and will go out in the field with South African Colin Nel.
