A TWENTY-SEVEN-YEAR-OLD man of Mazabuka who was abducted and tortured by unknown people has died at Mazabuka General Hospital.
Southern Province Police chief Godwin Phiri said Debby Mweemba of village Seven in Mazabuka was assaulted between February 12 and 14, this year.
Mr Phiri said the deceased was alleged to have been abducted by the suspected killers with one of them only identified as Sitali.
Mr Mweemba sustained burns on his buttocks, back, face, had swollen hands, swollen legs and was rushed to Mazabuka General Hospital where he only stayed for an hour, he died on Monday this week.
“Fire and unknown objects were allegedly used during the incident that occurred between February 12 and 14 at village three where the victim was suspected to have been unlawfully detained,” he said.
The body of the victim was currently deposited at the mortuary awaiting postmortem.
He said police had intensified investigations and managed to arrest the suspects in the early hours of yesterday who would appear in court soon.
