FOURTH Republican president Rupiah Banda has said he is ready to meet MMD president Nevers Mumba and his team to resolve intra – party wrangles in the former ruling party.
Mr Banda who supported President Edgar Lungu’s decision to invite Dr Mumba into a pact said the President’s gesture was encouraging.
In a statement yesterday, Mr Banda who has since travelled to Uganda to witness that country’s elections, denied earlier statements that he had met Dr Mumba.
The former president stated that he had no ill intentions against the MMD president or any other party members.
Mr Banda said the only way forward was for all Zambians to participate in healthy, mature and truthful debates as it was what Zambia was known for.
Mr Banda said it was vital that as Zambia goes to the polls this year; all citizens should be calm and peaceful in their dealings regardless of political affiliations and ideologies.
Meanwhile, Kasempa aspiring candidate Tobias Kafumukache has described the President’s move to invite Dr Mumba for a pact as timely.
Mr Kafumukache said the pact between the duo had been long overdue because even some members that left the MMD wanted to open up such discussions but that Dr Mumba had been delaying.
