MADMAX Motors yesterday unveiled a sponsorship package worth K85,000 towards hosting of Zambia Motor Sport Association (ZMSA) 2016 first round of the national rally championship that revs off on February 27 to 28.
Meanwhile, ZMSA has been honoured with the best organisers award for hosting of the third leg of the 2015 FIA-African Rally Championship(ARC).
Marketing manager Nyambe Maboshi, who announced his company’s package for the Madmax Rally at a media briefing in Lusaka, said the event will take place at the Graham Rae Farm in Chisamba.
Maboshi said K40, 000 will be in cash while the remaining K45, 000 will go towards other incidentals and logistics.
“We are so passionate about motor sport because of the glory it has brought to this country. This year we are pumping in K40, 000 cash and K45, 000 for other incidentals for the Madmax Rally,” he said.
About 25 drivers are expected to compete in the Madmax rally that will have its qualifying stage at the flyover bridge on the Great East Road while the rest of the action will be in Chisamba covering a total distance 124.94km.
On the ARC award, ZMSA vice president Sam Ching’ambu said the association was awarded for being the most organised host of the ARC legs.
“We have been awarded the best organisers of the ARC leg for last year though we have not received the award yet. And this is because of the sponsors we have who helped us stage successful event,” Ching’ambu said.
He thanked Madmax Motors for being the trendsetters in motorsport and assured them of accountability of the resources.
