GOVERNMENT has released K104 million for the construction of township roads in Mkushi District.
Central Province Minister Obvious Mwaliteta said Keren Engineering Company had been awarded a contract to construct 20.2Km of township
roads in Mkushi District.
Mr Mwaliteta disclosed that the contractor was on site and had started mobilising equipment and is set to start works by February 14,
2014.
He said the Patriotic Front (PF) Government had embarked on a number of infrastructure development projects across the country.
Mr Mwaliteta added that people were happy that the Government had placed infrastructure development on its agenda to ensure inclusive development.
He said road construction in Mkushi district would also bring about job creation for the locals that would be engaged.
“With the road construction that will be taking place in Mkushi there will be job creation for the local people’, Mr Mwaliteta said.
He has since called on the contractor to ensure that a good job was done and that works were completed within the stipulated time frame of one year.
Mr Mwaliteta said Government would not tolerate any shoddy works as it was pumping a lot of money into the road sector.
Mr Mwaliteta said Government was in a hurry to development the country and therefore, the increase in infrastructure development projects across the country.
He added that the PF Government had managed to bring about development in the shortest time that it had been in power.
