By MILDRED KATONGO –
THE Patriotic Front (PF) has suspended all provincial elections in order to mobilise people and concentrate on the August 11 general elections.
PF secretary general Davies Chama said the party decided to suspend all the provincial elections to enable people concentrate on the general elections.
Mr Chama clarified that the party did not only suspend the activities in North-Western Province but in all the provinces.
“We have cancelled elections in all provinces to allow members to mobilise themselves and concentrate on the general elections. It is not true that we have only suspended elections in North-Western, but (we have) done so for all the provinces,” he said.
Mr Chama said the suspended elections were supposed to be at ward, district and provincial levels.
Meanwhile, North-Western Province PF vice-youth chairperson Jackson Kungo said the youth in the province were behind President Edgar Lungu.
Mr Kungo said the party in the province was intact and would massively support the President during the elections.
“The youth in the province are on the ground and we will support President Lungu in the forthcoming general elections. We are urging all our fellow youths to rally behind the party and our President,” he
said.
Mr Kungo said the PF had gained popularity in the province during the last one year that President Lungu had been in office.
