LUNGA District Commissioner Rosemary Chimbini has appealed to Government to provide all needed boarding facilities at Nsamba Secondary School in the district to enable pupils learn in a conducive atmosphere.
She said although the school was upgraded to a boarding school a few years ago, it lacked boarding facilities, forcing pupils from far away communities to rent huts in surrounding villages and to cook for themselves.
Ms Chimbini said in an interview at the weekend that Nsamba Boarding School needed facilities such as dormitories and ablution blocks for pupils to be protected from immoral behaviour.
“Despite Nsamba Secondary School having been granted the status of a boarding school some years back, it lacks numerous facilities and infrastructure that includes kitchen, dining hall and enough class room blocks,” she said.
Ms Chimbini said Nsamba Secondary School was the only boarding facility in the district, hence it needed a lot of attention from the Government for it to serve pupils.
Lunga District is among the four districts that late President Micheal Sata created in Luapula Province and before that it was under Samfya District.
