THE Democratic Front (DF), National Restoration Party (NAREP) and the Forth Revolution (4R) party have formed an alliance ahead of this year’s August tripartite elections.
The alliance dubbed ‘The Orange Alliance’ was announced yesterday at a Press briefing in Lusaka.
The alliance has adopted DF president Miles Sampa as president, NAREP’s president Elias Chipimo will be chairperson while Fourth Republic leader Eric Chanda will be secretary general and spokesperson.
Mr Sampa said the alliance wanted to redeem the people of Zambia and it would surely win the election.
“This is the time to stand up for Zambia. It is just this August that this can be done, otherwise after this, we will have to wait another five years,” he said.
Mr Chipimo said the alliance carried the hope and promise of the Zambian people as it had gallant young men.
He said the three political parties put their differences aside in order to secure Zambia’s future.
Mr Chanda said the leaders had sacrificed their party presidential positions after realising that there was a need to unite for the benefit of the country.
“It is not easy to have a day such as this one. We have made tough decisions for the future of this country,” he said.
Mr Chanda said the doors to their alliance were open to other political parties that could be interested to join them.
