CHIEF Mumpolokoso of the Bemba people of Mporokoso District in Northern Province has commended the Government for embarking on various development projects aimed at uplifting the living standards of the people in the country.
Chief Mumpolokoso said that since he was installed as a traditional ruler, he had seen a number of development projects under the Patriotic Front (PF) Government.
He said what the people had been promised was what was being witnessed in terms of development.
Chief Mumpolokoso said the Government should continue working and complete the projects it had started.
He said this when Information and Broadcasting Services Minister Chishimba Kambwili paid a courtesy call on him yesterday.
“The PF Government under the leadership of President Edgar Lungu is doing a lot of development projects. It has touched all sectors which include the construction of roads and education facilites. Continue with the good works and ensure that they are completed within the stipulated time,” Chief Mumpolokoso said.
He said his chiefdom had benefited and what remained was for the projects to be completed.
The traditional ruler said he had already allocated 250 hectares of land for the setting-up of a solar milling plant which his subjects were waiting for.
Chief Mumpolokoso, however, called on the contractor to expedite the construction of roads in his chiefdom because once they were done, it would be easy for his subjects to move around.
Chief Mumpolokoso said the Government should also address the challenges of poor television and radio reception in the area.
Mr Kambwili said all the projects that the Government had embarked on would be completed in time to enable people access the facilities.
The minister said it was Government’s intention to ensure that people had access to the facilities easily.
“We have heard the concerns Your Royal Highness and we assure you that the projects that we have started will be completed. We are doing them in phases and we will complete them as promised. The roads in your chiefdom will be completed among other projects like fitting of solar milling plants and the piggery,” he said.
Northern Province Minister Freedom Sikazwe said that the road works in Mporokoso had stalled due to heavy rain.
Mr Sikazwe said the contractor would continue with the works after the rainy season.
He also said the district would have nine health posts which were at construction level and would be completed soon.
