SHOPRITE Zambia has given away 20 motor vehicles valued at K6.4 million to lucky winners in commemoration of its 20-year existence in Zambia.
The Renault vehicles were given to lucky winners after a three-month competition in which all its customers were eligible to win one of the 20 vehicles.
Unlike all other competitions before it, there was no entry amount or limit to the number of entries per customer.
Shoprite general manager Charles Bota said the chain store deemed it fit to give away such valuable items in commeration of its existence in Zambia for 20 years.
Mr Bota said the chain store has over 5,000 direct and indirect Zambian employees because of the customer support and belief in the chain store over the last 20 years.
He said Shoprite had grown to be the largest supermarket chain in Zambia.
“We source approximately 70 per cent of our total business, both food and non-food, stationery, plastic bags, transportation, building and maintenance services, cleaning, security and Internet services locally, thereby providing extra employment among these partners in the retail value chain,” Mr Bota said.
Mr Bota said even though only 20 of those customers were the lucky winners, each one of the customers that entered the draw enjoyed comparatively low prices compared to other players in the retail sector.
