GOVERNMENT is in the process of constructing a modern district hospital in Mwinilunga and Vice-President Inonge Wina is this Friday expected to launch the project.
The state-of-the-art hospital in Mwinilunga district will be constructed at a cost of K19.4 million.
Health Deputy Minister Chitalu Chilufya said in an interview yesterday that construction of the first level hospital by Covec Zambia Limited would kick off soon after the ground breaking ceremony on Friday.
Dr Chilufya said the hospital would be built in phases with both the first and second phases completed within one year, nine months.
“The first phase will be completed within nine months and will be open to the public upon completion. It will be a comprehensive out-patient department that will have all the essentials of a hospital. The second phase will be built in a year. As each phase is complete we will open it to the public,” he said.
Dr Chilufya said being a modern facility, the hospital that will accommodate 200 beds will also house laboratory services, imaging services and the in and out-patient services.
