By CHATULA KANGALI –
THE Zambia Development Agency (ZDA) has pledged to use this year’s Zambia International Investment Forum (ZIIF) to attract Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) into the country.
This year’s ZIIF is scheduled to take place on April 21 and 22 in Lusaka under the theme ‘Investment for Industrialisation and Job Creation.’
The investment forum is expected to attract more than 500 potential investors from around the world.
ZDA director general Patrick Chisanga said the Agency would also use this year’s ZIIF to promote Local Direct Investment (LDI) in the country.
“This is a perfect platform for Zambian established companies, emerging companies and Small and Micro Enterprises to interact, network and have business-to-business meetings with international fund and equity managers to access funds,” he said.
Mr Chisanga said this when he featured on ZNBC’s Kwacha Good Morning Zambia programme last weekend.
He said the ZIIF 2016 would attract various industries, successful industry players and investors from all over the world to stimulate growth in the Zambian economy.
Mr Chisanga said the Agency would soon launch an online registration for would-be participants.
He said the Agency was committed to supporting Zambia’s economic growth and development through promoting non-traditional exports, investment and support for small-scale enterprises.
“The Agency is striving to create an enabling business environment, especially for the locals so that they can grow into large or extra-large companies for wealth and job creation,” he said.
