HUNDREDS of Matero Patriotic Front (PF) members yesterday celebrated Miles Sampa’s resignation in style.
Some members yesterday marched while drumming and dancing from Lilanda bus stop to the Matero Constituency office in solidarity with President Edgar Lungu’s administration.
Those talked to said Mr Sampa had brought confusion and disunity in the party for a long time.
Mwembeshi Ward 27 Councilor Cris Kabole said Mr Sampa also brought divided loyalty in the party and that they were better-off without him.
Mr Kabole, who is also PF Matero Constituency chairperson, said the members did not speak to Mr Sampa to confirm his resignation but got his Facebook posting as gospel truth because even his ministerial resignation was first made known through Facebook.
And PF Matero Constituency vice-chairperson Wellington Mwanamwange said Mr Sampa’s resignation was long overdue and a relief to the party.
Mr Mwanamwange said this when he addressed PF members after the match past.
According to his Facebook page, the Matero law maker posted a resignation letter citing several reasons.
Mr Sampa is scheduled to hold a briefing on the Copperbelt today to clear the air.
