By JULIUS PHIRI –
RAUBEX Construction has pledged to complete works on the Mfuwe-Nabwalya Road within 24 months of the contractual period.
Raubex Construction site manager Renier Botha told Malambo Patriotic Front Member of Parliament Jacob Shuma and Mambwe District Commissioner Caroline Mwanza when they inspected part of the road yesterday that the company was hopeful to complete the road project within the contractual period.
The 130-kilometre stretch will cost the Government K540 million.
Mr Botha, who was flanked by company project manager Chris Dijkstra, said the mammoth task for the company was to cross the Luangwa River.
“We need to do 100 kilometres from here (Chisengu) to Luangwa Bridge and another 30 kilometres to Nabwalya where we are going to meet our friends (the Chinese) who are working from that side,” Mr Botha said.
He said the actual work for the construction of the road started in October last year.
