By ADRIAN MWANZA –
FORMER Chipolopolo striker Harry Milanzi has said the death of coach Dickson Ngwenya is a big blow to Zambian football.
Milanzi said Ngwenya, the late Napsa Stars assistant coach, greatly contributed to the improvement of Zambian football and that he left an indelible mark at all the teams he coached.
He hailed Ngwenya for mentoring young Zambian players at the various clubs he coached.
Milanzi said he drew various lessons from the late coach whom worked with at Napsa.
“I worked with the late coach and I must say I learnt a lot both as a player and an individual from this man,” he said.
He consoled the Ngwenya family and urged them to be strong in this time of grief.
“The family should be strong during this time of grief and pray to God for strength to pull through,” he said.
Milanzi said Ngwenya was a prolific midfielder who caused problems for markers and opponents during his heyday.
He recalled how Ngwenya propelled Napsa to the elite league at the time the ‘pensioners’ were hovering in the relegation zone.
“This man helped Napsa Stars survive relegation and maintain a favourable position in the FAZ/MTN league during his tenure at the club,” Milanzi said.
Ngwenya, 52, died on Tuesday morning after an illness and was put to rest on Friday at Memorial Park in Lusaka.
