THE National House of Prayer advisory board has called for peace and unity among political players ahead of the August tripartite elections.
Advisory board chairperson Joshua Banda said as Zambia prepared for the elections, there was need for the country to embrace peace and unity.
Bishop Banda was speaking in Lusaka yesterday during a Press briefing to notify the nation on the progress the board had made regarding the construction of the National House of Prayer.
“We call upon the nation, especially in the run-up to the tripartite elections, to commit towards the sustenance of peace and unity.
“We appeal to political players to spare no effort towards the sustenance of peace and unity,” Bishop Banda said.
He said peace and unity would help preserve diversity in the nation and in productivity.
Bishop Banda condemned tribal talk and hate speeches that Zambia was currently experiencing.
“In the face of intra-party and inter-party differences, we appeal to political parties not to harm one another with words,” Bishop Banda said.
“Instead bless one another and wish each other well despite your political persuasions.”
Bishop Banda appealed to all Zambians to participate in fundraising for the National House of Prayer.
The fundraising will be the first of its kind intended for the 7,500-seater National House of Prayer, and will be held on January 23, 2016 at Government Complex.
Bishop Banda said the provisional costs for the House of Prayer were estimated at US$10 million, hence the need for fundraising.
