THE National Pensions Scheme Authority (NAPSA) has donated goods worth K76,000 to selected vulnerable groups in Ndola as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme.
NAPSA acting director general Yollard Kachinda said the institution, through interaction with various stakeholders, had continued to identify areas that needed support.
Mr Kachinda said during the donation of goods to Nkwazi Clinic and Kafubu Orphanage that the Authority, through its CSR policy and interaction with the community, would continue to identify and support initiatives that had the potential to foster economic and social development.
He said the institution was prepared to supplement the Government’s efforts in addressing social challenges through community support programmes.
Mr Kachinda said NAPSA had identified healthcare as an area of need, and pledged to uphold good health for all through its CSR projects.
He pledged the institution’s commitment to administering a viable social security scheme that guaranteed social security to its members, as well as foster social and economic well-being of its partners and the communities in which it operated.
Receiving the donation, Ndola Central Member of Parliament (MP) Fackson Shamenda pledged Government’s continued support in areas of health and education.
Mr Shamenda, who is also Labour and Social minister, said health and education were among the Patriotic Front (PF) Government’s priorities and that there was more to be done in terms of development.
He thanked NAPSA for giving back to the community as the gesture would go a long way in supplementing the Government’s efforts in providing improved healthcare.
Mr Shamenda urged PF members not to heed to negative criticism from the opposition, but continue to sacrifice for their communities.
“We have faced a lot of opposition from opposition parties on infrastructure development.
“I would like to appeal to my colleagues in the party not to be ashamed to sacrifice for their communities and be proud to belong to a progress-oriented party,” he said.
Ndola District Health Management Team director Lillian Nyendwa urged the community to safeguard the items.
The donated goods included mattresses, mealie-meal, cooking oil, salt, linen, and washing detergents, among others.
