THE Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) is investigating five cases of excessive pricing in the country.
CCPC acting executive director Brian Lingela said the commission last year recorded five cases of excessive pricing whose investigations were currently continuing.
Mr Lingela said the cases were from different sectors of the economy with focus on dominant firms.
He said the commission was aware of the fact that some selected business houses were engaging in excessive pricing.
Mr Lingela was speaking at the media briefing in Lusaka on Monday.
He said no determination had been made yet as such cases take long to conclude.
Mr Lingela further said in terms of cartels, the commission conducted two dawn raids in the bread and mealie meal subsectors which were areas of concern being among the most important basic food products in the country.
He said these cases were still under investigation as such cases required impeccable evidence hence investigations taking long to be finalised.
