To celebrate 20 years of its existence, Shoprite has given away 20 cars to the public through the ‘Win-One-Of-20 Cars’ Competition.
Speaking at Radison Blu Hotel in Lusaka yesterday, Shoprite general manager Charles Bota said the draw was meant to thank customers who bought various goods from the store.
“These are the people who pay our salaries and we want to thank them in a very big way,” Mr Bota said.
He said in celebrating the 20-year milestone, Shoprite conducted various functions, competitions and donations to communities wherever the supermarket was located as a way of showcasing their gratefulness to customers.
Mr Bota said donations included delivering a cake and personal thanks to the police or authorities in each town as well as donating a wheelchair and other items to local hospitals or clinics, among ather gestures.
He said the value of each car was US$29,000 while the total value was more than half a million dollars.
Mr Bota said names of the winners would be announced on January 23 during a prize-giving ceremony to be held in Lusaka.
