A NDOLA father’s attempt to block a case involving the defilement of his three-year-old daughter has backfired after members of the family reported the matter to the police.
The case involves a three-year-old girl of Kazalo Village in Kang’onga area and her 14-year-old cousin of the same village.
Copperbelt deputy Police chief Byemba Musole confirmed that the father of the victim tried to resolve the matter without involving the police but that some members of the family reported the development to police.
Mr Musole said the incident occurred on Sunday afternoon.
“Yes, I can confirm that there was a defilement case involving a three-year-old girl and the suspect is 14 years old. This happened on Sunday afternoon in Kazalo Village in Ndola. The father of the girl wanted to resolve the matter privately, but some members of the family reported it to the police,” he said.
He said the suspect was arrested and is in police custody.
