THE Central Province Boxing Association (CPBA) has jumped to the defence of the under-fire Zambia Boxing Federation (ZBF) executive, accusing the Midlands Amateur Boxing Association (MABA) of fanning confusion.
CPBA chairperson, Kennedy Mvula in an interview accused MABA vice-chairperson Raphael Chalwe of sowing a seed of confusion in the association by ‘persecuting’ people he deemed rivals.
Mvula said Chalwe was only bent on denting the image of ZBF president Thomas Chileshe to the extent of coming up with malicious charges.
“There is no division in ZBF, it’s just Chalwe who is fighting our president (Chileshe). ZBF has a constitution which should be followed but Chalwe is not respecting it.
“Actually, Chalwe should be expelled from ZBF because he has shunned all ZBF meetings. The constitution states clearly that an individual who misses four consecutive meetings automatically forfeits a position,” he charged.
The ZBF has been engulfed in an administration wrangle that has seen resignations both at coaching and executive levels with provincial affiliates rebelling against the national executive.
Mvula said there was nothing wrong with the Chileshe administration, adding that the resignation of two national coaches, Kennedy Kanyanta and Wisdom Mudenda was due to MABA’s influence.
He vowed that he would not sit and watch people cause turmoil in ZBF but would fight for sanity to be restored.
