By SANDRA MWILA –
MIDFIELDER Fwayo Tembo has terminated his contract with Romanian club Astra Girgiu over contractual obligations.
Fwayo confirmed the development in an interview in Lusaka yesterday that he has parted ways with Astra and will be training with  Zambian 12-time league champions, Nkana.
He said Astra were going through financial hiccups and he is owed four months in unpaid salaries alongside his teammates.
“Yes, it is true I have terminated my contract with Astra, the club is going through financial challenges and it has become difficult for them to sustain foreign players.
“For now as I wait for a new club, I will be training with Nkana, I have already talked to them and they have agreed,” Fwayo said.
Asked whether he would sign with Nkana for the 2016 soccer season especially that the Kitwe side has been after him for some time, Fwayo said he was yet to make a decision.
Fwayo said he has reported the matter to FIFA alongside seven other foreign players that had parted company with Astra.
He said four of his colleagues were from Brazil and three from Portugal and where waiting for FIFA’s intervention.
The former FC Basal, Étoile Sahel and National Assembly winger said he had received about five offers from clubs but was not in a position to disclose their names at the moment until when a deal materialised.
Fwayo leaves the Romanian club he joined in 2012 having featured in 50 matches and scored seven goals.
Astra were one of the six clubs that were referred to the UEFA Club Financial Control Body (CFCB) Investigatory Chamber due to breaches of the ‘overdue payables’ requirements linked to important overdue payables towards other clubs, employees and/or social/tax authorities as of June 30, and/or September 30, 2015.
