NKWAZI have said defender Derrick Mwansa is not going anywhere despite Zanaco registering him for the CAF 2016 Confederation Cup.
Nkwazi secretary Adrian Kashala said yesterday that Mwansa, who was on loan at Power Dynamos last season, was not going anywhere and that the Inspector General (IG) of Police Kakoma Kanganja has given a directive not to release any player.
“We had talks with them (Zanaco), they wrote to us on November 23, but we told them we cannot release Mwansa since we were given a directive by the IG not to release any players.
“We were shocked to see the player’s name on their list for the CAF Confederation Cup. They did it without fully consulting us,” he said.
But Zanaco chairperson Edward Mutale, in a separate interview, said the ‘bankers’ had some technicalities with Nkwazi in signing Mwansa.
He said the club was waiting for the IG to respond to the request to have the player released.
“It is just a loan arrangement we want and we have engaged the IG. The player is willing to join us and we also would like to get him because he has some international experience,” he said.
Meanwhile, striker Jimmy Ndhlovu has pushed in a transfer request at Nkana to join Power as defender Christopher Munthali remains heavily linked with a move back to Wusakile.
Nkana chief executive officer Ken Mwansa confirmed in an interview that Ndlhovu had submitted a transfer request to join Power just six months after returning to Nkana.
Also on his way out is goalkeeper Rabson Muchelenganga after two seasons with Nkana.
“Jimmy has pushed in a request, he wants to go back to Power Dynamos and we are likely to sit down and negotiate with them some time next week.
“We are not renewing Rabson’s contract. Unfortunately, his time with the club is up and so too is Claude Bwalya’s,” Mwansa said.
Mwansa declined to discuss midfielder Spencer Ngalande’s prospective move to Nkana until the ex-Napsa Stars and Nchanga Rangers player had resolved his contractual issues with the Botswana club that still owns his signature.
On Munthali, Mwansa said there was nothing at the moment as the player still had a running contract with Power.
Meanwhile, Gift Kampamba has bounced back as Nkana first team assistant coach, replacing Fedelis Chungu just 10 months after the duo swapped roles with the first and reserve teams, respectively.
The ex-Zambia and Nkana midfielder will revert to his old position as second assistant trainer while Zeddy Saileti remains the first assistant coach to Aggrey Chiyangi.
Mwansa said Charles Chakataziya had also bounced back as first team manager, replacing Jerry Chishimba.
