THE recruitment of new personnel for the three defence wings has ended but the process of shortlisting successful candidates is ongoing, Defence Minister Richwell Siamunene has said.
Mr Siamunene said in an interview in Lusaka yesterday that the nation would be informed in due course of the outcome of the exercise which involved the recruitment of officers for the Zambia Army, Zambia Air Force and Zambia National Service.
“The recruitment already closed, but shortlisting of successful candidates is ongoing. I am awaiting a report from the authorities after which the nation will be duly informed of the outcome,” Mr Siamunene said.
More than 168,000 people applied to join the defence forces following an advertisement which ran in the Press in August this year.
The military received 168,199 applications from people countrywide and the successful ones will be invited for aptitude, medical and physical fitness tests prior to engagement.
