INDENI Petroleum Refinery has resumed operations with assurance that there is a steady flow of fuel in the country.
Indeni was closed last month to pave the way for routine care and maintenance works.
Indeni managing director Maybin Noole assured that there was no need to panic over fuel supplies as the plant was in good condition and operating well.
He said during a tour of the plant by Copperbelt Permanent Secretary Howard Sikwela in Ndola yesterday that 95 per cent of the work had been completed and the plant was currently running.
Mr Noole said during care and maintenance of the refinery plant, new units and equipment were replaced, which helped improve production.
“We are just coming from the care and maintenance period and I can say that we are operating fully now. There is no need to panic over fuel issues. The plant is in good condition and running,” he said.
He described 2015 as a profitable year despite facing challenges of contaminated crude oil.
Mr Noole said Indeni performed well and that it was looking forward to carrying out more projects next year.
Reverend Sikwela said care and maintenance of infrastructure was vital as it added value and life to existing structures.
Rev Sikwela commended Indeni management for having worked hard to guarantee a steady supply of fuel in the country.
