TOP seed Barnabas Kalaba bagged three trophies after winning the Under-18 and 16 categories during the Christmas Tennis tournament held at Kabulonga Girls High School in Lusaka.
Kalaba beat tournament third seed James Kaoma 2-0 with set scores of 6-4, 6-3 during an exciting final played on Monday evening to claim the Under-18 title before the two clashed again in the U-16 final.
That final saw Kalaba beat Kaoma in straight sets but with scores of 6-3, 6-0 while the Under-14 trophy went to 13-year-old Dickson Phiri who overcame Maxwell Nkata in a tough 2-1 win with set scores of 4-6, 6-3, 3-6.
Kalaba’s third trophy came in the doubles event where he paired with Jeff Phiri to beat the team of Oliver Lemba and James Kaoma 2-1 with sets of 6-4, 2-6, 6-1.
Priscilla Mayuka won the girls Under-18 title after thumping Hope Kanyama 6-3, 6-before teaming up with Soraya Mumena to win the doubles event following a win over Shira Phiri and Hope Kenya.
