THE Patents and Companies Registration Agency (PACRA) has commenced online business registration and filing of annual returns to enable people to easily register their firms.
PACRA public relations officer, Vaida Njobvu, said the online registration system would enable Zambians to easily register their firms with the agency as they would not be made to travel long distances.
Ms Njobvu said in an interview that this would increase the number of businesses being registered with the institution as people would find it easier to do so as long as they had internet services.
“We have gone online, so when you go to our website, you will notice that we are actually doing online business registrations and filing of annual returns.
“This online system is yet to be officially launched,” Ms Njobvu added.
She said the agency was hopeful that registration levels would increase significantly with the start of the online facility.
Ms Njobvu said the online platform would make it easier to register businesses and reduce the cost of doing business.
She noted that the agency had noticed tremendous increase in the number of businesses filing annual returns using the online system.
Ms Njobvu has, however, called on companies to provide working mobile numbers and e-mail addresses to the agency for the purpose of being notified when their date for filling annual returns was due.
