A TWENTY-five-year old man of Mukanga village in Chinsali District has killed his one-year-old son after he kicked him during a fight with his wife.
It is alleged that the couple had a fight on Christmas Day after a marital dispute and that in the process the husband kicked the baby that was with its mother.
Police Cap 628x350Muchinga Police commissioner Auxensio Daka said Chali Mubanga kicked his baby while fighting with the wife.
Mr Daka said the baby, who was severely injured, died upon arrival at Kalela Clinic.
“We have a murder case involving a one-year-old baby who was killed by his father. The couple had a fight and in the process Mubanga kicked his son who died on arrival at the clinic,” Mr Daka said.
He said the man had since been arrested and charged with murder.
In another matter, a 14-year-old girl of Mukumpo village in Chama District has been defiled by her step-father.
Mr Daka said Kennedy Kopa defiled the girl when the  mother went to visit her friends.
He said the incident happened on Christmas Day.
Mr Daka said the suspect was on the run and that Police had launched a manhunt.
In Livingstone, a 45-year-old man of Dambwa Site and Service has died from suspected poisoning after a drinking spree with his friends.
Friday Taluti was discovered dead in the early hours of Saturday.
Southern Province Police chief Godwin Phiri said the deceased was suspected to have been poisoned while drinking beer with his friends.
“A man aged 45 years was found dead in his house after coming from a drinking spree. We are suspecting that he had been poisoned  by those he was drinking beer with,” he said.
Mr Phiri said Police had launched an investigation into the death of Taluti.
Meanwhile, a 54-year-old man has sustained serious head injuries after he was run over by a speeding motor vehicle.
Reuben Mukali of Power Township in Mazabuka is believed to have been cycling on the Great North Road when he met his fate.
Mr Phiri said Mukali was hit by a Mazda, registration number BBA 5472, driven by Ticklay Nkolola of Chongwe.
