THE recently conducted Patriotic Front (PF) mobilisation exercise in Eastern Province was a success, the party has said .
Mobilisation chairperson Charles Banda said the tour of Eastern Province by a PF committee of chairpersons comprising Jean Kapata for elections, Esther Banda, in charge of women, and himself was successful as the team managed to visit all the nine districts, including Chama in Muchinga Province.
“The major purpose of the tour was to roll out the mobilisation programme of action as the party prepares itself for the 2016 presidential and general elections. Party structures received the roll-out with enthusiasm,” Mr Banda said.
This is according to a statement issued by Mr Banda in Lusaka yesterday.
He said even with the 50 per cent plus one inclusion in the amended Constitution, the PF in Eastern Province was ready to contribute massively in the tripartite elections and would give President Edgar Lungu a resounding victory without a re-run.
The structures were given instructions to work hard and mobilise the general membership for the purpose of handing Mr Lungu an outright victory.
In line with that instruction, Mr Banda said, all aspiring candidates should desist from interfering with the work of the party structures towards total mobilisation.
He said those who wished to apply as Parliamentary candidates and councillors  should avoid actions that had the potential to divide the party.
Mr Banda said some people had been reported in some provinces that in their bid to be adopted, they were trying to buy loyalty from party structures.
He said those who would be found wanting risked being excluded at the time of adoptions.
There were also reports that some members of Parliament (MPs) from an opposition party were working with some members of the PF to block the ruling party from forming structures in their constituencies.
Mr Banda said it was not acceptable for PF members to succumb to such threats from opposition MPs.
