GOVERNMENT has terminated the contract of Angelique International, the company engaged to build 247 health posts in four provinces for operating at a slow pace.
The Government has further ordered two other contractors, Jaguar Overseas Limited and Megha Engineering Limited to immediately double their workforce and mobilise in all their operational areas so as to accelerate the construction works ahead of the April 2016 deadline.
In the spirit of taking health services closer to the people, the Government contracted Angelique International, Jaguar Overseas Limited and Megha Engineering Limited to put up 650 health posts countrywide at a total cost of US$55.9 million.
Angelique International was contracted to build 247 health posts in Luapula, North-Western, Northern and Muchinga provinces at a cost of $18.1 million.
Health Deputy Minister Chitalu Chilufya, who disclosed this in Mansa yesterday, said Angelique International’s contract was halted as the Government was not happy with the pace at which the contractor was moving.
